Short introduction to HOFEKA Ltd.
Hofeka Ltd. is the successor to EKA joint-stock company (Elektromos Készülékek és Anyagok Gyára = Factory of Electrical Appliances and Materials) founded in 1888, which has gained a considerable reputation in Hungary in the field of outdoor public lighting and the production of high-voltage power transmission line equipment.
The main product lines of HOFEKA are:
- High voltage power transmission-line fittings (TVO) (exlusive Hungarian production)
- Electrical installation parts
- Electrical power transmission-line and substation equipment
- Decorative luminaires for outdoor and public lighting fixtures
- Outdoor, sport and industrial luminaires
- Floodlights
- Special high-voltage fittings
- Low-voltage installation materials
The two major fields of activity of our company in detail:
1. High-voltage network equipment
Almost the complete high-voltage electrical network of hungary was built with the fittings of predecessor EKA. HOFEKA Ltd. now manufacture these fittings together with new equipment required be the electrical energy industry, based on the reqirements of our custumers and the Hungarian electrical energy suppliers. In the past 50 years there has been no major brakedown in the Hungarian network caused by the failure of these fittings. We are able to supply our customers even on a short notice with prompt delivery!
2. Lighting fixtures
Unique light labs
HOFEKA Ltd. has one of the most sophisticated light and lighting technology labs in Hungary. We serve domestic as well international customers; design and manufacturing companies from the neighbouring Austria are regular customers.
Helping the community: RELUX lighting design software are free of charge available at our facility for start up lighting designer companies and individuals.
Our lab helps HOFEKA to stay ahead of competition and supply the market with the latest lighting technology.
The young and dynamic team of HOFEKA is eager to serve our customers with uniquely designed, lighting fixtures and tailor made systems. (Some of our references: AUCHAN Food department, special lighting fixtures, the three level indoor lighting solution of the Pasaret Sport Complex).
Our specially designed outdoor fixtures are tested and currently in the purchase process of the US NAVY.
HOFEKA’s lighting fixtures are designed for indoor as well for outdoor applications. In the frame of the EU co-operation HOFEKA was the first to develop street lighting fixtures with electronic ballasts.
Unique warranty
Our luminaires are produced exclusively from metal. In this way we can offer an extremely long warranty period of 25 years. When HOFEKA Ltd. undertake the maintenance contract the warranty period can be increased up to 40 years.
HOFEKA’s carefully designed and technically superior fixtures won several awards.

Energy Conservation:
HOFEKA - as the first Hungarian lighting fixture manufacturer- received a membership from the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) and became a full member in 2005.
The association applies very strict qualification measures to approve light pollution reducing lighting fixtures. Our latest design - with compact fluorescent lamp - already received IDA certification.
We are proud to be the first Hungarian company authorized to use IDA logo which is the brandmark of companies devoted to environmental conservation.
During our numerous projects for the Hungarian Railway Company we developed specific lighting designs. This design was so successful that HOFEKA became one of the vendors of the Hungarian Railway Company.
On new roads with HOFEKA:
We the HOFEKA team always ready to move ahead with different product development projects. The continuous search for new developments and manufacturing methods gave the possibility of different product development and manufacturing co-operations with various partners.
As a result of the IDA membership we developed a startegical partnership with MAGNARAY INTERNATIONAL (W.I.L.D. Corporation), one of the main players of the US outdoor lighting market.
Currently expanding our sales markets beyond Hungary and the EU, towards Russia, Ukraine and other countries in the CEE region.
